Tarot

Originally a medieval card game which incorporated images from many sources, both familiar and mysterious, the 78 card tarot deck is a purely symbolic system. The deck is currently used mainly for divinatory purposes, as events in your life and your reactions to these can be shown in a tarot reading. There are two parts to a tarot deck: the Major Arcana cards - 22 numbered picture cards – which consist of archetypal figures reflecting major experiences in your life. The remaining 56 Minor Arcana suits cards fill in the details, when intuitively read.
Your tarot reading
The cards will be shuffled, and a number of them will be laid out for you in one of many possible patterns. From this unique combination of cards, it is possible to build a story of you and your situation. Contrary to popular perception, tarot cards are not merely for fortune telling or divining the future, but have more important uses. Their mythological imagery can help to guide your choices and empower you to find the resources you need.
Through the tarot your life can be seen as a journey stretching ahead of you, with you as the creator of its direction. The universal wisdom embodied in the tarot offers support, encouragement and deeper self-awareness in the process of discovering your unique path.

Symbolical systems
Both astrology and tarot are powerful tools for gaining insight into yourself and the important issues in your life. Both are symbolical systems that mirror in different ways the famous principle attributed to the mythical Hermes Trismegistus, dating from the first century BCE. This principle states: that which is ‘above’ us – i.e. the patterns of the cosmos, or that which is beyond our reach, reflects what is ‘below’ or inside us – in our subconscious minds, and often in the events that surround us.
This is one explanation of how both astrology and tarot actually ‘work’. Life seems to be full of symbolic reflections once you start to notice them.
